Winton MFG creates compost from Leavenworth's food and yard waste and has been for over a year! Join them as they share what that has looked like in the community, at the facility, and plans for the future.
The Winton Manufacturing Compost Works facility was built by re-purposing the decommissioned Winton saw mill near Coles Corner about 15 minutes north of Leavenworth. The project took about 3 years to become operational from concept to completion, which included permitting, construction, and testing. Winton Mfg Compost Works can receive, annually, up to 62,000 tons of yard debris, wood waste, food waste, and other organic waste streams. These materials are turned into high quality compost for multiple area markets.
