Here Comes Winter!

With a predicted high of 99° in Cashmere on Sunday, it’s time to starting thinking about winter, right? Right!? It’s certainly on our minds, and I’m sure the leaves will be turning and the temps will be dropping before we know it. As we prep for our fifth (!?) winter season we feel more prepared than ever to handle the demands of the shop’s busy season. Here are some things to know to help you make the most of winter at Colchuck Consignment!

For Consignors

  1. Kid’s apparel is back! For the winter season we will be back to accepting a full range of youth gear and apparel. We will adhere to our brand list on all youth apparel, which means no department store, fast fashion, or Amazon brands. As with adult apparel, we will inspect youth items for cleanliness, functionality, and holes, and will gently decline anything that is not up to our adult apparel standards.

  2. The app is your friend. Make sure you have the Ricochet Go app with notifications turned on. You’ll be pinged when your items sell, and you’ll get a warning one week before your items expire from the store. This is the only way to receive these types of notifications!

  3. Get your gear in early! We have the biggest demand for winter gear and apparel through the end of December. Most folks are looking to get geared up before winter break and having your items in the shop by November will give them an excellent chance to sell quickly, and at their best price.

  4. Hard goods are always in demand. While we are able to meet most folks needs for outerwear and layers, we don’t always have enough inventory to meet the needs of everyone searching for hardgoods. Entry level alpine skis and boots, and XC skis and boots are our most in demand items. If you have any that are collecting dust, don’t hesitate to bring them down! As a reminder, we can only accept modern alpine skis (generally 10 years old or newer), but can often take XC gear that is older as long as it is in good condition.

  5. Dirty or duct taped gear will not be accepted. Please launder your apparel before bringing it in. If you have any small holes that are patched with duct tape, please replace with Tenacious Tape. Our wash fee will increase to $25/item this year. We see this the most with puffy jackets. Don’t be afraid to wash your puffies! We have a Nikwax product in the store specifically for down products and cleaning this type of garment will greatly improve its ability to keep you warm.

For Customers

  1. Check early and often. In the winter, we are often inputting over 100 new items a day into the store. If you are looking for something specific it is a good idea to start checking the store early in the season, and check back often! You can always call or email if you want to see what we have before you come in.

  2. Follow @colchuckgearstoke on Instagram. This is a highlight reel of items coming into the shop. Scrolling through the feed will give you an idea of the types of things we have!

  3. Let us know if you’re looking for something. Our store gets pretty packed in the winter. If you’re looking for something that you don’t see, be sure to ask as we might know just where it is! We will also be happy to point you in the right direction for other shops or platforms where you might find what you’re looking for.
